Got a problem ?
You must be using a Telstra NextG simcard that has been put on roaming (Free service, just ring and ask them to do it).
Any Telstra SIMcard (3G or Next G) should work as long as -
- It has International Roaming enabled
- It's not Prepaid
- It doesn't have 1900 Call Barring.
If you put the SIMcard in, it should say "Registered" within a minute
of getting satellite signal.
When connected and registered , the little led light on the top will flash green.
It takes a minute after dialling for the phone to ring on the other end.
If using your Telstra sim, you do NOT need to dial the ++ or 61 for an
Australian number.
We have found that all problems so far have been operator caused. Please read the "already booked?" (at the bottom of the sat phone hire page) link pages carefully.
All of the answers are there.
Except, perhaps, if you've changed batteries and forgotten to put the aerial back on carefully.
We don't mind phoning you back in the middle of nowhere...but we'd rather not have to.
Always check your phone/SIM by making a quick call BEFORE you leave home.
